About

CourtStreetStories.com is an ongoing project  that I’m using to teach students in the Scripps School of Journalism about online journalism. This site essentially is a lab where students are learning to perfect their craft while getting hands-on experience using the WordPress content management system. You’ll find content on this site dating to fall 2014, when my Magazine Feature Writing Class posted their final projects here. At present, two sections of Fundamentals of Online Journalism are creating content for and managing the site.

This is student journalism It’s not perfect, but it does highlight some excellent writing and reporting. While it inevitably will be rough around the edges, stories here are expected to adhere to the basic tenets of journalism — accuracy, fairness and professionalism.

The material on this site belongs to the students who created it. Requests for permission to republish this material in any way should be directed to the student who created it.

Chetra Chap, a graduate student who served as managing editor of this site when we launched it, helped set the site up using the Vantage theme.

If you would like to contribute to this site, see errors or have concerns about anything related to it, send me an email.
